Maginspiration #2

Hello all !!

I come back again with more inspiration found in old magazines.
We are still renovating the basement and so we are still spending time looking for ideas, inspiration, buying materials, etc.
I am making progress in my little boy blanket but as I had nearly finished last night I was not completely happy with the way I was joining the squares and so I pulled the thread and I'm starting to join them again with a different method.
It is not something I'm enjoying as there has been a lot of testing, making and unmaking on this blanket but it is part of the learning curve and this way I will know which is the method of joining solid grannies I like the most.
I will share the result and method used with you once is finished and ready to show.

Now back to inspiration . . .found in Country Homes & Interiors - November 2008

A quilt above and there is also what looks as a lovely crochet throw (first picture above)

And another quilt in lovely blues and greys. . . so romantic . . .

And some more found at Ideal Home - December 2010

Lovely grannys blanket . . .

And knitted cushions . . .lovely !

Hope you find these inspiring too . . .

Have a lovely week !

Magazine Inspiration #1

Hello all ! How is you Autumn going so far ?
I am working on this WIP , I'm also making the border and finishing off this blanket, and I am also modifying this shawl as I wanted it wider and with more wrap around, mad I know, but I'm just like that.
I was not completely happy with it and so I decided to modify the pattern and make it wider.

In the meanwhile, at home we are going to work on the basement and renovate it and so I digged out my magazine collection looking for wood burning stoves and some interior inspiration and found lots of inspiration that I want to share with you all.

In this Country Homes and Interiors - November 2010 issue I found:

(this lovely granny squares blanket)

(again...grannies on a towel)

(a scraps blanket, I'm sure we can all make this with fabric scraps and a crochet hook.
And did you spot a couple of lovely quilts and cushion on the left ?? )

And . . . these lovely 5 projects to knit. . . now. . .I only know basic knitting skills so this is something I already have on my list to learn.

What are you making ??

Have a lovely day and week ahead !!

French Magazines & Country Homes and Interiors

Hello ladies !
Today, as promised (Christine you put the pressure on me :-) rightly so, as otherwise this would have ended up as lost post that never made it to daylight) I will show you what magazines I got in France, but also one of my favorite English magazines as there is a crafty part in it.

My lovely husband had to go to London two weeks ago and so I asked him for Country Homes & Interiors magazine, as this was something he could easily get me at the airport.
And although I have had it for 2 weeks and I have never managed to not look inside a magazine immediately, this time I could hold myself and wait.
Last night I wanted a bit of comfort easy reading, snuggled up in bed and luckily for me on the first few pages there was a crochet section !! (I say luckily as after these pages I could no longer keep my eyes open)

Hola  a todas !

And so this is it !!
Lots of lovely ideas, and look at that OMG vintage Singer table !!

Then, at the crafty section they do every month there was also ideas on how to re-use old woolly jumpers. Nice !

And now the craft magazines I got in France over Christmas.

I got this one as it seems everybody is talking about the Hardanger embroidery technique. But as looked closely it seemed a familiar embroidery to me. So I asked my mum if she knew this method and she said matter of factly: Of course ! these are 'vainicas' , that she has been making since she was a child. So there you go, I went to bed that night having learnt something new.

This is the back of the magazine with all the lovely projects.

This one is called Couture Creative and it has 26 bag patterns and how to make them, etc.

This one below has some assorted projects of crochet, knitting, patchwork, etc

This one below called Crochet Creatif is packed with projects to make for children, if you like that style, I'm not very fond of the designs shown but there you go !

And the back of the magazine. . .

Y la contraportada . . .

This below I got it as it came with freebies !! thread, needles and some fabric. I'm hoping to make a quilt one of these days . . . sometime in my life I have to say.

This one below is to sew and make some softies . . . some are cute

. . algunos son monos

And the last one is about Cartonnage which is basically covering up boxes with fabric. This is something I always wanted to learn and there is a place in my town where they do workshops, so who knows ??

Some of these magazines came as a bundle of 2 but I cant remember anymore which ones so I commented on each separately.

I also bought a book but it is soooo pretty that it deserves a post of its own.

This is all for today

Hope you enjoyed it !!

Love,
Eva

Besitos,
Eva

English Xmas Mags / Revistas Inglesas Navidad

What other things I got while in Dublin, well, one of my favourite magazines:

Country Homes & Interiors

Why I like this magazine ? Because it is filled with inspiration, for those who love country style, traditional, shabby chic, that kind of thing. Not a magazine for the clean, modern minimalistic style loving people. It usually includes a cooking section, some craft to make each month, shopping and they normally feature about 3 or 4 real homes.

The part I like the most is where they tell the story behind a small (or big) country business, those little success stories we all love to know about. . .

He comprado esta revista (o he estado suscrita tambien) durante mas de 3 años pero ahora me he cambiado a Ideal Home, aunque aun no he recibido mi numero de Dic !

I have bought (been subscribed)to this magazine for over 3 years, I have now switched to Ideal Home magazine, although I have not received my Dec issue yet !

Next one, Period Living. I had only bought this magazine a couple of times before but to my surprise have a look at the special feature called Bright Ideas for a creative Christmas by Clare Young, author of the book, Christmas Crafting in no time.

And last but not least, Mollie Makes. This one I have been after it for a while now since I came across it in the iPad app store. It is filled with inspirational ideas, stories, tips, etc a really nice discovery.
(I dont include more pictures as I'm not sure of the copyright)
I'm lucky (in a way) I wont be able to find it in Spain, or else I would be buying yet another magazine a month !!
The iPad version normally gives a free sample of it, but I'm not used yet to the digital versions of magazines . . .
