Holiday Stash Busting and new WIP . . .

Hello !!

I'm back from holidays, well actually I was back just last week but a lot of organising after we came back around the house.

I was here, in Nerja, a little Andalusian town in Malaga, we love this place as it is really not crowded, the hotel is very family orientated and family friendly and the place has its old world charm. The town has kept its real andalusian and Spanish feel to it.

Before I left I managed to finish and send the bunting for Yarndale that I mentioned here

During my holidays I started a new WIP, another blanket for my little son Marc, with Drops Paris I bought and told you about it here

I am doing solid granny squares in the 3 different shades of blue and then a white border, I wanted this blanket to be simple, and I am using a hook size 5 for it.

And during my holidays I bought a basket, perfect to keep my yarn stash, and it seems my yarn stash is not as sad as I thought !! I filled the basket and I still have a full bag of Drops Paris from the offer I bought.

I have to say I was a little wary at the thought of using 100% cotton yarn as I had read that it could be a little stiff, but it has turned out to be really nice to work with and not stiff at all. I'm loving it !!

And now this is my stash basket, do you like it ??

And just if I thought I did not have enough yarn, I bought this offer, just for the free yarn !!
all for 1.99 Euros

Have a wonderful weekend !!

Stash Busting: Finished Blanket !

Hello all !!

How are you all doing ?

I'm happy to finally have finished my daughter's blanket, which I started back in . . . October.
October ?? Yes. It took me about 10 months to finish it.

I have enjoyed making it so much, all the colour changing, the yarn I have used is so nice to work with.
It is 50% Acrylic 50% wool and the colours. . . I love the colours, so cheerful !! Well, I think so.

And what I love about it all is that I still have yarn left so I will be thinking of making something with it.

For the border of this blanket I tried several options, I undid some rounds, etc and in the end I went for this simple border as I thought there is already a lot going on in the blanket so for much that I love lacy borders it did not look right on this one, too busy !

Border is number 81 of Around the Corner, Crochet Borders by Edie Eckman.

And I was able to fix that little 'problem' I mentioned in my last post, and actually it turned out straight forward to fix and easy. The yarn in the centre round had got loose and so I pull it and knotted it back and secured it well.

And now I leave you with some pictures from the main square (Plaza de Cervantes) of the town where I live, Alcala de Henares. I love this place and the old centre of the town is World Heritage Town by UNESCO and the birthplace of Cervantes.

Have a lovely week !!

Edge / Border - Round 3

Hello !

Today I had a bad day at work, everything seemed to go against me and everything coming back at the same time and wrong timing. . . but....tomorrow will be a new day and is bank holiday here in Spain ! Wo-hoo !!

So, this is how my border is coming along. . .

I undid what I had done here and started again, well not completely but I added an extra row of single crochet in the very pale pink all around the blanket (before I had only 1 row)

This is how is looking now. . .

But then I noticed this . . . .

Aaarrghh !!!

I should have definitely stayed in bed today . . .

How on earth did that happened ?? And how will I fix this ?? - I don't know

Hope you are all having a great day !!

On the edge . . .

Hello all,

Remember this blanket that I was making for my daughter ? I started it back in October and I have decided to finish it, and I say decided as that is exactly what I did.
I had two choices: go on forever to make a single bed size blanket or stop now and make it a lap-blanket or end of bed blanket. So I chose the second option.

I just need to move on, I love this blanket and how is coming along but I just want to finish other projects and then move on to something else, NEW.

So after a lot of thinking, looking through the Around the corner, Crochet Borders by Edie Eckman
I have finally chosen the borders I will add and at the moment it looks as I will be using a couple or 3 of them. . . we will see. . . at the moment is testing time.

On the second round I have realised that my first pale pink round cannot be seen, so I have undone everything and will be starting from round 1 and adding another of the pale pink. . .

I will show you the end results very soon I hope. . . and I love doing the edging. . . after all that color chaning, cutting, ends weaving. .... the edging is sooo straight forward. And I mean SO straight forward and so much quicker.
Before I talk too soon we will see how it works out in the end.

Have a nice week !!!
