How 2012 ended and the new beginning . . . Como acabe el 2012 y el nuevo comienzo

Hello everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR !

La verdad es que durante las vacaciones no me ha dado tiempo a crear cosas nuevas, solo a avanzar un poco en la manta de ganchillo.

To be honest during the holidays I did not have much time to create any new things, I could only make some progress with the granny blanket I am making. 

Os queria enseñar sin embargo lo ultimo que hice en 2012 que fue una falda para mi peque de 4 años. Necesitaba una falda roja para la función del cole así que pensé que era la oportunidad perfecta para lanzarme a hacer una.

However, I wanted to show you the last thing I made in 2012, a skirt for my 4 year old daughter. She needed a red skirt for the school show, so I thought it was the perfect occasion to have a go and make it myself. 

Hubo alguna que otra frustración en el camino, mucho estrés ya que a 2 días de la función me quedaba casi todo por hacer y solo las noches (a partir de las 10pm) para hacerla. Menos mal que mi madre estaba en casa esos días y me pudo ayudar. El frunce fue lo que mas problemas me dio. Use este tutorial que hay en el blog de Sew Mamma Sew, donde las explicaciones vienen muy claras, aunque en ingles.

There were some frustrating moments in the making, lots of stress as 2 days before the show I still had no skirt and little time to sew, only the nights (from 10pm to be precise). 
Luckily for me my mum was staying with us those days and she gave me a hand. 

The gathering of the skirt was the most difficult part. I used this skirt sew along from the lovely and very useful blog of Sew Mamma Sew where it is very clearly explained.

Yo queria una falda que no fuera para un día solo sino que luego se la pudiera poner cualquier otro día.Así que compre un paño rojo muy bonito y para el día de la función le cosí unas lentejuelas en forma de flor, luego se las quite para que la use normalmente.

I wanted it to be a skirt that she could wear on a normal day too, not just for the show. So I bought a wool fabric, similar to a tweed but red and for the show I sewed some sequins so that it had some sparkle at the show. I later removed them and so the skirt could be used again. 

Os enseño también la tiara, diadema que la tuve que hacer, que no quedo mal del todo. Tenia que ser brillante, en rojo y blanco y con plumas.

Here is also the 'tiara' I made. It had to be red and white, with feathers and glittery. 

Por lo demás os ire enseñando mas cositas en los próximos dias. Cosas que hice en 2012 antes de empezar el blog y fotos de donde he estado en Navidad, el Norte de Francia.

I will show you more things in the next few days, things I made in 2012 before I started to blog about. Also pictures of the place I was at Christmas, the North of France.

También estoy ya preparando los tutoriales de ganchillo, que llevan un montón de trabajo, sobre todo de fotos, etc, espero tener las primeras lecciones listas antes del fin de Enero, ya os avisare de todas formas.

I am also working on the crochet tutorials, they are very laborious, with lots of pictures to edit, etc. I hope to have the first lessons ready by the end of January. 
I will let you know anyway. 

Bueno, y esta noche es una noche especial, sobre todo para los niños de España ya que llegan los Reyes Magos y creo que ahora justo están entrando en Madrid, así que me voy con mis peques para verlos. Que tengáis unos felices Reyes !!!

Well, tonight is a very special night in Spain, specially for children as it is Epiphany day and the Three Wise Men are arriving with presents for all the children. At this very moment they are arriving to Madrid so I have to go and share this magic with my children. Have a happy day !!

Buntings Galore / Banderines y mas banderines !

Y como os prometi, aqui tenéis los ultimo banderines que he hecho para niñas en este caso. 

Este primero es diferente porque normalmente los he hecho en tonos mas pastel, pero Vera tiene la habitación decorada con telas de Ikea así que le hice el banderín a juego con la colcha. 

As promised here are the last buntings I have made, for baby girls in this occasion. 

This first one is different as I normally make them in pastel colors, but Vera has an Ikea decorated room and so I made the bunting matching the Ikea cot duvet cover. 

Las letras en rojo para que destaque.

Y la parte de atras con la tela de cuadros tambien a juego con la colcha.

Este banderín es para Mia, una bebe nacida hace dos meses escasos. La habitación de Mia es crema así que se lo hice muy femenino con telas de florecitas en color aqua y fucsia.

This bunting is for Mia, a baby girl born 2 months ago. Her room is cream so I made this very feminine bunting with flower fabric in aqua color and fuchsia. 

Este es para Lara, una niña de 4 años que tiene la habitación en lila y rosa.

This one is for Lara, a 4 year old girl, her room is lilac and pink. 

Y los tres banderines se van a Irlanda, 2 de ellos ya están en camino !

And the 3 of them are going to Ireland, 2 of them are already on their way !

iPad Sleeve / Funda para iPad

Hoy os enseño mi ultima creación en costura, es una funda para el iPad. 

El patron es el del ultimo SAL de Sweet Sixteen Craft Store pero luego la creatividad, cada una puso la suya. 

Este fue mi resultado, os gusta ?

Today I would like to show you my last sewing creation, it is an iPad sleeve cover. 

The pattern is from the last SAL of Sweet Sixteen Craft Store but then each of the participants added their own creativity and stamp on it. 

This is what I made out of it, do you like it ?  

Un cojin para Marc / A cushion for Marc

En Septiembre, al comienzo del curso teníamos que llevar un cojín para la guardería y decidi hacerle este a Marc con su nombre. 

In September, at the beginning of the school year they asked us at the creche to bring a cushion per child, so I decide to do this one for Marc with his name on it.

Lo hice enteramente con la maquina de coser pequeña, y mi madre tuve que ponerme la cremallera en su maquina porque en la mia no se podia.

I made this one with the little sewing machine, and my mum helped me with the zip as I could not sew it with my little machine. 

Los colores los elegí para que hicieran juego con la mantita y su banderín...

I chose the colors so that it matched the blanket and his bunting. . . 

El nombre lo puse con fieltro . . .

I made the name out of felt . . . 

 en el reverso puse una tela de estrellitas, muy mona. . . 

at the back a cute and sweet stars fabric . . .

Y como no podia ser de otra forma, debía tener una barquito y un banderín. . . 

And as it could not be any other way, it had to have a little boat and a bunting. . . 

Tengo el diseño ya hecho para hacerle uno similar a mi hija Sofia, cuando lo tenga os lo enseñare, os gusta este ?

I already have one designed for my daughter Sofia, as soon as I have it ready I will show it to you, what do you think of Marc's one ?

My First Sewing Machine / Mi primera maquina de coser

Como os prometi aqui os pongo una foto de mi primer maquina de coser, esta que mi madre compro en la tienda de los chinos . . . bueno, pues la verdad es que hace solo lo que es el pespunte basico y con esta maquinita he hecho todo lo que habéis visto hasta ahora y alguna cosa mas que ya os pondré en fotos. Decidí comprarme ya una maquina mejor porque con esta se me limitaban mucho las posibilidades. 

As promised to you in my first post here is a picture of my first sewing machine, that one my mum bought in the One Pound shop (it did not cost one pound but around 15 pounds) ... well truth must be said, it does work well as everything you have seen in my blog up until now has been made with this little machine, and some other things I will show you soon. I decided to buy a better machine last month as this one here was limiting my creative possibilities but is good for simple projects.

Como soy una aprendiza en esto de la costura, aqui os enseño lo que hice en el mes de Octubre a traves de los videos de Nairamkitty de  Living the Crafts. A mi sus videos me encantan ya que lo explica muy bien. 

Hice este alfiletero y este acerico a juego. Las telas son Tilda, que os parece ?

As I'm still an apprentice when it comes to sewing, I want to share with you the 2 projects I did with the videos of Nairamkitty from Living the Crafts. 
I love her videos as she explains very well how to make things.

Mi Primera Entrada: finalmente !/ My first post: Finally !

Este mes puedo decir por fin a muchas cosas. Para empezar estoy empezando mi muy esperado blog, muy esperado por mi, pero espero que os guste y que tenga al menos algunos seguidores. 
El fin de mi blog sera sobre todo mostraros las cositas que voy haciendo sobre todo de costura, en lo que soy una principiante y voy practicando haciendo cosas para regalos y en ganchillo, que ya llevo la mitad de mi vida haciendolo, tambien punto de cruz y luego en general cosas que encuentre interesantes. 
En Octubre tambien me acabo de comprar mi nueva maquina de coser x, de las de verdad (una Alfa Next 40, despues de muchas vueltas a marcas, modelos, . . .), y digo esto porque hasta ahora todo lo que iba haciendo era con una maquina de coser que compro mi madre en 'los chinos', ya pondre una foto y vereis que la de ahora es una maquina de verdad (de esta podeis ver la foto abajo)

Espero que me sigais en esta aventura de aprendizaje, intercambio, descubrimientos . . .

October is the month when I can say finally about many things. To start with I have finally started my own blog, which I hope you like. 
My blog will be a showcase of my learnings in sewing, of which I'm a beginner and I practise by making things for friends and for my own kids. Of crochet, which I have been doing for at least half of my life and of crosstich, which I also like and enjoy, and in general all things I will find interesting I will show them to you. 

October is also the month when I have finally bought my first 'real' sewing machine, and I say 'real' because up to now (and for at least one year) I have been using a machine that looked like a toy which my mum bought at the 'chinese' shop (these shops are really cheap and of low quality in general, similar although not exactly the same to the 'one pound' shops in England, Ireland, etc) I will put soon a picture of it so you can have a better idea, for now I'm thrilled with my new machine, of which you can see a picture here. 

I hope you follow me in this adventure of learning, exchange and discovery . . .
