Hello !! How is your summer going so far ?
In Spain it is officially summer since 21st June, and it will be until 21st September or so. But so far, so good as it is being a mild summer, and I wont mind it so much if it starts being hot from now on.

En España es verano oficialmente desde el 21 de Junio y lo será hasta el 21 de Septiembre. Pero hasta ahora ha sido bastante suave de temperatura así que no me importara tanto que haga calor a partir de ahora.
June has been a busy month and the routines are changed and I did not know how I was going to cope with all, and the thought of it scared me, but I have been doing ok and had to drop a few of the things I normally do, like crafting and blogging :-( One can only do so much. But May and June have been non-stop, literally.
Junio ha sido un mes bastante movido para mi y las rutinas han cambiado y no sabia como lo iba a combinar todo, solo pensarlo me estresaba, pero de momento ha ido bien solo que he tenido que dejar de lado otras cosas que hago normalmente como coser y bloguear :-( No doy a basto. . . y Mayo y Junio han sido meses sin parar, literalmente.
Anyway, my routine was changed as in June children finish school and playschool at 3pm instead of 4 pm. I finish working at 1pm and I am very fortunate to work from home, but I had everything arranged so that I finished work at around 1.30 pm (this is the reality), cooked lunch for my husband and myself , tidied a little bit the house, did the laundry or whatever was needed (one day a week I do the shopping at this time, change the sheets on another day, other days it is just tidying up all the mess, etc) and maybe 1 day a week or 2 days if I was lucky I could do some sewing, but not in the new routine. This extra hour was gone ! June has also been a busy month at work and found myself sometimes working extra hours as I had to travel to Barcelona and last week it was Dublin !
La forma en que ha cambiado la rutina es que en Junio los niños terminan el cole y la guarde a las 3 de a tarde en lugar de las 4. Yo termino de trabajar a la 1 y tengo mucha suerte con trabajar desde casa. Normalmente suelo terminar de trabajar sobre las 1.30 pm, hago la comida, recojo, pongo la lavadora o lo que haga falta (un día a la semana toca la compra de la semana, otro cambiar sabanas y otros me paso el tiempo recogiendo ) y quizás un día a la semana podía coser , pero no con la nueva rutina. Esta hora extra que tenia, en Junio y Septiembre desaparece. En Junio también he tenido un par de viajes de trabajo y esto complica todo mas aun. El ultimo viaje ha sido Dublin !
And as of of you know how busy can it all get around the house with 2 small children I will tell you now about my Dublin trip.
Como sabeis, hay muchas cosas que hacer cuando hay dos peques en casa, así que ahora os cuento mi viaje a Dublin.
If you have read my blog before you will already know that Dublin is a city closed to my heart and soul.
I lived there for 7 years of my life and in Dublin also I met the man of my life who is my husband today. Although he is French he also loves Ireland, Dublin and Irish people.
I am lucky I still have to travel to Ireland at least twice a year, work related, and I am grateful for that.
These few business trips I have to make every year are a constant contradiction to me. It is painful to leave my children and husband but on the other hand these trips are also a kind of 'forced' break, where I forget about the laundry, the cooking, preparing school bags, clothes, organising, groceries shopping, etc,etc. It is also one of the few times where I can go shopping for myself. It feels weird to be in the street on my own without having to look around a thousand times to see that my kids are beside me, etc
Si habéis leido mi blog antes sabréis que Dublin es una ciudad muy especial para mi. Vivi allí 7 años y en Dublin conocí al hombre de mi vida que es hoy mi marido. Aunque el es Frances le encanta Irlanda, Dublin y la gente irlandesa.
Me siento afortunada por tener que viajar aun a Irlanda por trabajo unas 2 veces al año. Aunque estos viajes son una continua contradicción para mi. Me cuesta mucho dejar a mis niños y a mi marido pero por otra parte estas 'escapadas' son una especie de 'respiro' forzado en el que me olvido de la lavadora, la compra semanal, cocinar, organizar. . . También es una de las muy pocas veces que puedo ir de compras para mi. Aun me siento rara de estar sola en la calle sin tener que mirar mil veces para ver que mis peques están a mi lado, etc
This time I had a lot of plans for my 2 days after work, specially the shopping part. On Wednesday evening I met an old friend and went for dinner with her and with one of my best Spanish friends,who is living there.
Esta vez tenia muchos planes para los dos días que iba a estar allí, especialmente planes de compras. El Miércoles fui a cena con dos amigas, que viven allí.

In that little street at the back called St. Patrick's Close there is Marsh's Library, Ireland first public library. Dates fro 1701, it is charming !
En St. Patricks Close encontramos Marsh's Library, la primera biblioteca publica de Irlanda, del s. XVII, me parece que tiene una entrada encantadora !

The Quays Bar, and we are now in Temple Bar district. For those of you that don't know Dublin, Temple Bar is one of Dublin's oldest districts and it still has narrow cobbled streets full of bars, pubs and restaurants. It is now also the most cultural district in Dublin.
El pub The Quays Bar, y ya estamos en Temple Bar. Para los que no conoceis Dublin, Temple Bar es uno de los distritos mas antiguos de Dublin y aun tiene sus calles estrechas empedradas y llenas de bares y restaurantes. Tambien es el distrito mas cultural de Dublin.

My trip was short and I did visit a craft store but did not buy anything and I did not take any pictures. Funny enough there are not many craft stores in Dublin, not that I know about anyway. The most popular one would have to be Hickeys. They do stock now lots more than they used to. This shop is traditionally a good fabric shop for curtains, upholstery, etc, and also have a crafty section downstairs. They have a few patchwork fabrics, not many,just a few. They do have materials for crosstitch and quilting, and lots of Irish yarns, really lovely.
Mi viaje fue corto y visite solo una tienda de crafts pero no compre nada ni tome fotografías. Aunque parezca raro no hay muchas tiendas de telas o mercerías en Dublin, no que yo sepa. . .La mas famosa es Hickeys. Tradicionalmente venden telas para confección y mucho de cortinas y tapizados, también tienen mercería en la planta baja y drafts. Tiene telas para patchwork, pero no muchas, solo una pequeña selección. También se pueden encontrar materiales para punto de cruz, acolchado y muchas lanas Irlandesas, muy bonitas.
One of the reasons I did not buy anything and why all my shopping plans were broken was because on Thursday morning I realised I had lost my card wallet, where I had my national ID and my credit cards !
I had lost it and I did not know where. I looked everywhere but it was definitely gone. In Spain it is compulsory to hold the National ID card for all Spanish nationals older than 14 yrs. With this ID card you can also travel around the European Union without the need of a passport. And that is exactly what I had done. I had left my passport at home in Madrid. Anyway I was there with no ID card to fly back home and no credit cards to do my shopping. (I was fuming !!)
Una de las razones por las que no compre nada y porque mis planes se truncaron fue porque el Jueves por la mañana me di cuenta de que no tenia mi carnet de identidad, había perdido una cartera pequeña donde llevaba el DNI y mis tarjetas de crédito!!
Lo había perdido y no sabia donde. Mire por todos los sitios pero no estaba. En España es obligatorio tener el DNI (Documento Nacional de Identidad) para todos los mayores de 14 años. Con este documento podemos viajar en la Union Europea sin necesidad de un pasaporte. Y esto es justo lo que yo hice. Me había dejado el pasaporte en casa. En fin que allí estaba, en Dublin y sin DNI para volar de vuelta a casa y sin mis tarjetas para hacer las compras que había previsto. ( Estaba que echaba humo !!)
I had to go immediately to the Garda Station (Police in Ireland) and report the case. With this report then on to the Spanish Embassy so that they could issue a Safe Conduct document to allow me return home. Everything was solved but I did run around Dublin for a few hours and only got the document 2 hours before the departure of the flight.
En fin, tuve que ir a la comisaría de policia y hacer una denuncia de perdida de documento de viaje. Con esto la embajada podía hacer un salvoconducto (que tiene que admitir la policía española) y con este documento podía volver a casa. Todo se resolvió después de ir de acá para allá por Dublin durante unas horas y solo obtuve el documento 2 horas antes del vuelo.
I am not sure when I will be able to show you any crafts, hopefully soon but at this moment I don't see to find the time for anything. . . but I will at least try to find time to see yours !!
No estoy segura de cuando os podré enseñar algo que haya hecho, espero que pronto pero en este momento no veo el tiempo de hacer nada, ni de tener tiempo para ello . . .pero al menos intentare encontrar el tiempo para ver lo que hagáis vosotras !!
